The Brief

Every hospitality brand serves food. What sets one apart from another is the feeling people associate with the experience. Oven District came to Red Hills Lab needing a photography library that could carry that feeling across every touchpoint — the website, social channels, campaigns, and whatever comes next.

The brief was clear: build a versatile set of assets that gave the brand a real-life feel beyond its product shots, while staying warm, relatable, and true to what makes Oven District worth returning to.

Our Approach

We built the shoot around a simple idea — Oven District isn't just a place people visit, it's a place people enjoy coming back to. To capture that, we combined three layers of photography into one cohesive visual system:

Wide, environmental compositions to establish the space and its character
Lifestyle imagery to introduce genuine, human moments of interaction
Product photography to showcase the quality of the food without losing the context of the wider dining experience

Rather than treating these as separate deliverables, every image was planned to work flexibly — strong enough to stand alone, but designed to sit together as one visual language. The result is a library that feels authentic and premium, built specifically for how modern hospitality brands communicate today.

On the Day

The shoot was structured to make the most of natural light and real moments on site:

9:00am – Jason arrived to shoot the empty space and prep shots before service, capturing the venue's character and details
11:00am – Lauren joined on site until 1:00pm to bring the lifestyle shots to life
1:00pm – Wrap and offsite

The must-have shot list balanced brand fundamentals with candid storytelling, including a straight-on exterior of the space, wide interior and oven shots, a signature smiling shot with a bowl for website use, and a run of lifestyle moments — selecting options, walking out with an Oven District bag and drink, and sitting down to eat. Alongside these, we captured genuine customer moments both inside and outside the venue, giving the brand imagery that stock photography simply can't replicate.

The Result

What came out of the shoot is more than a set of photographs — it's a flexible image library that Oven District can draw on across the website, social media, campaigns, and future brand communications. Every asset was considered on its own merits and as part of the wider set, so the brand isn't locked into a single use case for any single image.

The photography balances atmosphere with intention. It establishes the space, introduces the people, and puts the food at the centre — without ever losing sight of the experience that ties it all together.
